Disability History Awareness Event

The National NHS Muslim Network welcomes all of our Muslim colleagues, allies and friends to our Disability History Awareness Event.
Disability History Month in the UK is an annual event creating a platform to focus on the history of our struggle for equality and human rights.
Disability History Awareness Month runs from 16 November to 16 December 2023.
This is an exciting opportunity to recognise and celebrate the 1 in 5 NHS people who bring personal lived experience of disability and long-term health conditions to their careers, teams, leadership and patient care.
The event will be hosted by our award-winning Co-Chairs and supported by:
- Dr Farooq Ahmad, Consultant Psychiatrist and Interim Divisional Medical Director, Learning Disability Directorate, Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
- Josh Gardner,Senior EDI lead, NHS England, and School Governor of a Special Education School – Leeds
We will also hear from Halima Dagia, our Co-Chair, who will share her personal journey with neurodiversity.
